Clark, Edgar Counties see large increase in ridership

Ridership on Rides Mass Transit District buses in Clark and Edgar Counties rose nearly 13 percent for the fiscal year which ended June 30.

Over 55,400 riders utilized the public transportation service during the previous fiscal year.

“This is an exciting trend that we hope continues,” said RMTD operations manager Adam Lach. “We take pride in assisting the residents within Edgar and Clark Counties and getting them where they need to be whether that be to work, medical appointments, shopping, or just about anywhere.”

Throughout the district, RMTD provided transportation to nearly 686,000 riders over the course of the previous fiscal year.

RMTD is the largest rural transportation district in Illinois covering nearly 18 counties in the southern and east central part of the state. It has served as the public transportation provider in Clark and Edgar Counties since 2013.
