EFFINGHAM, IL- Rides Mass Transit District, the largest rural transportation system in Illinois, took part in the 2016 Effingham Senior Health and Information Fair Wednesday, May 4 at the Effingham Senior Center.
Those in attendance were able to learn about weekend trips to regional attractions that are sponsored through the senior center and RMTD.
Different information booths and tables were also on hand for residents to inquire and take part in complimentary screenings and testings.
Many of the RMTD services to seniors are slated to end June 30, 2016, however, due to Effingham County's decision not to include Rides in next year's transportation project.
“We certainly appreciate the friendships we've made with the residents of Effingham County over the past few years,” said RMTD CEO Bill Jung. “Events like these give us the chance to visit and hear from those who have become part of the Rides family. The County has decided to go a different direction, but we are still pleased with the services we have been able to provide during our time in Effingham.”
