RMTD partners with Google Transit to offer easy access to fixed route information in Carbondale
HARRISBURG- Rides Mass Transit District has announced its partnership with Google Transit to help passengers easily plan their trips inside Carbondale. Fixed route schedule information within the Carbondale urbanized area is now available for users by searching for travel options in Google Transit with the Google Maps platform.
RMTD’s Saluki Express service in Carbondale offers a variety of options to help people travel throughout the community while also servicing stops near and along the SIU-Carbondale campus. The service can also help passengers connect with other RMTD routes that allow for access into Williamson County and other points within the RMTD service area.
“This partnership can help facilitate the search for transit options when traveling in Carbondale using our fixed route service,” said RMTD CEO Adam Lach. “Google Transit is a great resource many people are familiar with and will allow the general public to quickly access the information on the platform.”
Saluki Express service is accessible to all general public members and offers inexpensive fare pricing options. RMTD is also partnering with Token Transit for contactless fare payments along the Saluki Express fixed route system. SIU-C students can access Saluki Express routes along with all other RMTD existing routes by using their Dawg Tag.
RMTD is the largest rural public transit district in Illinois. For more information, visit ridesmtd.com or contact 844-220-1243.
